Headunit Connections

Here you can post things about ICE (In Car Entertainment). Like how to install GPS navigation, a DVD-player and other yuppie-stuff. This category might be moved to "those other things" in the end...

Headunit Connections

Post by breitling » Fri Mar 10, 2006 7:20 pm

Please excuse what is probably a very basic question!

Just got a nice, shiny 480ES on an L plate, also got a nice, but less shiny, Alpine headunit but without any wiring loom!

My question is, when I actually manage to remove the standard Volvo headunit and unplug it from it's connections - what connections will I have - i.e. when I purchase a new loom for the Alpine it will be 16 pin from the Alpine into 'what' to connect with the Volvo wiring - or should I just get 16 pin to bare wire?

Any help or advice gratefully accepted by this novice!

Many Thanks

depends what they felt like when they built the car.

mine has standard ISO connectors so I can plug any (recent) radio in and it will work.
other people who have 95 models though, have a volvo specific connector , so it depends.

best advice is to take the old radio out and see for yourself.

it is likely that alpine unit will have ISO sockets already installed.
