Which GPS Sat-Nav do you use?

Here you can post things about ICE (In Car Entertainment). Like how to install GPS navigation, a DVD-player and other yuppie-stuff. This category might be moved to "those other things" in the end...

No offence but I wouldnt piss on any of them if they were on fire!!! You've got more change of finding your required UK location by licking your finger and holding it in the air

Spend £6 on a decent road map and wave the rest of your £250 at lost motorist and laugh quietly to yourself ;)

I use tom tom as well, its excellent!
Cost:
PDA, free as i had it already and a mate gave it to me!
GPS bluetooth dongle, £50
TT software, free *cough* backup copy.

not bad considering i use it all day everyday for work and i use it in my MR2 as well cos the speedo is in Km/H.
Ive only been lost twice since i got it set up, nearly a year ago and both those occasions were caused by me typing in the wrong post code!! :?

I will soon be converting to a TomTom possibly a Go 500 V2. Couldn’t be without a satnav on long journeys it’s the best thing I have ever bought for the car. Never taken me the wrong way

Tomtom 5 is definitely the best software. Currently runing it on a Mitac 201 (replacement model for 168).
Excellent combination and very portable for walking as well for the fitter people as an option! :D

I hear Acer make a really good PDA with a GPS attachment, its called the N35 or N30. Its a good satnav and its a full pocket pc, play yer mp3's and watch your faviroute vids connect to the interweb to retrieve your electronic mail. Buy a big SD card for it for more storage. :D http://www.acer.co.uk Anyone gonna sell me a full leather interior yet?

Tomtom Mobile 5.21 on Orange SPV C500 (or Qtek 8010 or i-Mate SP3) with Royaltek RBT1000 BT receiver. Some crashes, but very usefull and not too expensive !

get a tom tom, dead easy to use. on the 500 and 700 you can use them as a bluetooth handsfree kit, and you can download speed camera locations for free. only drawback is that they are a bit big.

best prices on:

http://www.find-uk-deals.co.uk/sat_nav.htm

free speed camera locations download:

http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/uksafetycameras.php

or you could just download the tom-tom software for your hone or PDA, thats a cheaper way of doing it!.

Well, I wanted a PDA, so for £120 I got myself a XDA2 PDA/Phone, which came preinstalled with TomTom, all UK and Euro maps, POIPlace (to show things like speed cameras, Petrol stations and pretty much anything I download for it to tell me about), and a bluetooth ultra sensitive GPS antenna (even works in the glove box!)

When the project car gets on the road, it'll still be using an in-built laptop and using "Navigator" as it's software.

The beauty of the XDA2 is that because it's a phone, I can browse the web in the car too, or download new POI on the fly...

I can vouch for that, it's like some sort of gyroscopic charm that keeps going round and round until it tries to take you up a one way street the wrong way but luckily chance upon Lee who actually knows the way to Lincoln Cathedral...
