Any Headunit Guru's in the house?

Here you can post things about ICE (In Car Entertainment). Like how to install GPS navigation, a DVD-player and other yuppie-stuff. This category might be moved to "those other things" in the end...

Getting back to the topic at hand, can I offer my experience?

I find a permanent 12 volt using a multimeter on the existing wiring loom, and also the ground (usually brown).

I then took a patch lead from the fan (because the fan's only on when the key's at position 1). Connect these to a standard ISO connector, and the headunit will always come on, albeit without sound. I then locate the four pairs of wires, and buzz each pair to make sure the resistance is 4 - 16 Ohms. I then take a single output feed from the headunit and find which pair of wires is which speaker. Put them onto the right pins on the iso connector, and Robert's your father's brother.

Oh, and give me original Ratpack or Nicky Blackmarket anytime.
Currently on Volvo 440 number 4, and after scrapping my first 480, I will get another one when space/money allows it.
