Improving the standard door speakers

Here you can post things about ICE (In Car Entertainment). Like how to install GPS navigation, a DVD-player and other yuppie-stuff. This category might be moved to "those other things" in the end...

Improving the standard door speakers

Post by 480_rocket » Tue Sep 13, 2005 6:01 pm

Made a cheap little passive crossover for each 5.25" speaker thats made the sound a lot better, only if you have a sub though.

Add a 220uF 35v capacitor in series with each speaker. Cuts out a lot of bass, so cleans up the midrange at higher volumes.

Cost, about £1 :D

Unless you spend a fair amount on replacement speakers, I've never seen any benefit over some cars standard speakers. Electrically, they take the power of an uprated head unit, mechanically they just don't have the xmax. Stick a capaitor in, you get of rid of that problem and the head unit doesn't have to drive so hard so mid range distortion is greatly improved.
