Right, ive got myself a blaupunkt radio from ebay, but the faceplate isnt removable.
im a bit worried about leaving it even with the keycard removed, i know faceplate removal is a very good deterent to the oppertunist
this keycard malarky renders the radio useless unless the keycard is in it,
dont fancy finding a pile of glass on the floor only to find the radio's not been taken
any thoughts?

ive got one of these too, if you read the manual there is a flashing LED that you can activate when the card is removed that lights up the card slot. its not much but it helps!
as pol said so tactfully they are kinda "factory" looking in there design so you might find no-one breaks in in the 1st place!
they are also great stereos from the point of view that its really easy to rig them so that you have an auxiliary input into the back of the unit, great for ipods!
this explains why i have a blaupunkt for each of my vehicles

email Blaupunkt peeps - my mate got a pair of window stickers to remind people that his radio had the keycard removed off them for P&P - like the olden days when we used to get the RadioAlarm stickers all over the place!! Hurrah for the early 90s!

through experience i can say that the keycard works very well as a deterrant. my other car was fitted with one of them and was broken into twice ( it was loud i.e. lots of bass and d wrong ppl noticed ) and the stereo was never even touched. i eventually had an alarm installed so the breaking in stopped so i would guess an alarm is always a good investment wether you have a keyard or a removable face plate.
