amp connection

Here you can post things about ICE (In Car Entertainment). Like how to install GPS navigation, a DVD-player and other yuppie-stuff. This category might be moved to "those other things" in the end...

amp connection

Post by piper1st » Fri Aug 26, 2005 12:23 pm

So there i was ...

going to put my 4 channel amp into my 1992 480ES, initially to power the 6x9's, but with the view to install my twin subs (2x10”) later.

In previous cars I have ran …

 the amp’s power cable straight onto the battery ...
 the remote wire ‘piggy backed’ onto the semi-live heater …
 the earth direct onto the chassis through the seat belts in the back …

I can see NO way of getting the power cable in about the battery … I even took out the glove box to thumble about … :?

How on earth is this possible in the 480 ... but somehow you all seem to manage … or does someone have a secret that i should be let in on?!

:help:

Inside teh engine bay, look at the anti rill bar, feel on the bulkhead below the anti roll bar, there is a grommet there.
If you remove the piece of black trim above the passengers feet, the hole comes out right at the back there, there is a perforated circle in the foan soundproofing you can pull out that lines up with this grommett. thats where mine are routed.
