6x9's in the boot - now with photo's of how they're made.

Here you can post things about ICE (In Car Entertainment). Like how to install GPS navigation, a DVD-player and other yuppie-stuff. This category might be moved to "those other things" in the end...

Sorry for not sorting them yet - I will get round to it at some point, but I've just bought a house and every spare second of my time is being spent repairing/demolishing/rebuilding at the moment. Currently my 480 is filthy both inside and out, as I simply haven't had a chance to wash her, let alone take any pictures of her!

Nice installs guys. I've got the same infinity 6x9's, good quality indeed. Chris and i went for the parcel shelf option with bass ice underneath. We made an MDF shelf profiled to fit the edge and carpeted it. Done a similar thing for the front door builds. I'll try and sort some pictures out. :)

Loving the 6x9 install Ben ...

I've just made myself a parcell shelf for my Infiniti 6x9's and also an extra hole in the middle to allow access to the boot!!

wait till you see ... i will attach some foto's once i have covering it ... by the way, where do you get the carpet to cover the shelf?! Is it expensive?! I seen some blck carpet for £25 in Halfords ... bloomin dear!

thanks

£25

You can get decent black carpet (same stuff as on sub boxes) from any Wilco motorist store, or any other decent automative spares shop. Could also try looking on eBay. But do not pay £25 for it!

I bought mine from Maplin (the mottled type)- I think I bought £4.00 worth - enough to cover those speakers, and I had some left over afterwards, too.

I've finally got round to removing the speakers and taking some photo's of them. Hopefully you'll be able to see how they were put together, and how I managed to fix them into the car. The bit of bent metal you can see in the first photo is threaded all the way along. Where it attaches to the rear of the car was the only place where there was some suitable metal to attach to. It's basically got two locking nuts on it, on either side of the metal fixing it to the car. We bent it by heating it up with a blowtorch, and then using a couple of pairs of BIG pliers!

Sorry it took so long! :D
