Mounting Rear Speaker Pods. Help !?!

Here you can post things about ICE (In Car Entertainment). Like how to install GPS navigation, a DVD-player and other yuppie-stuff. This category might be moved to "those other things" in the end...

Mounting Rear Speaker Pods. Help !?!

Post by Edward » Sat Apr 16, 2005 9:01 pm

I recently bought the rear speaker pods for my 480 off ebay. There the ones that fit next to the passenger seats, above the storage holes.

Has anyone fitted these to their 480 ??? Whats the best way of doing it ??? Removing the whole panel ???

THANKS :o

rear speakers

yep i suggest lift with a flathead screwdriver the little squares of plastic in the storage holes(soon to to be speakers holders) and finding (i think) the yellow and black wires and conecting them to the speakers and hopefully rear sound , but be warned that the speakers in the rear that are oval and fit in the storage areas next to the seats sounds crap (very crap) though the ones that fit in the rear plastics on the wall in rear sound (OK).

to avoid total disappointment make sure your running a kinds 4 X 40w setup with DJ skills on the fader, trebel, and bass and you will have to adjust all of these along with the volume for each differnt ablum or track.

i think the constant wattage recommened for the oval type speakers is 7WATTS not so deafaning but can do spacial fill in.

Wow i am like sooo unsophisticated.

I have two seven year old sony house speakers in the "boot" and the standard front door speakers on a ordianry sony 4x40w cd player.

It sounds...... different but very very loud and i get lots of bass when listening to Ace of Base

:( No its fine - really

For the speakers in the side panels above the storage compartments I might have an installation guide. I will try to find it later this weekend if you want! 8)

ok..so it had began...I started fitting the speakers today..and (fcuk) fun it is...
with the use of a drill, and a couple more of power tools I did manage to cut out the holes for the pods..it takes a lot of time and makes hell of a mess...then it is just screwing the speakers and the pods in and there it goes..
one suggestion...do not make the holes too close to the front as there is a seatbelt there and the pod might not fit in..move it to the back...I will probably take a couple of photos tomorrow to show you how they look..

I have just seen on ebay a set of speaker pods that replace the rear storage pods. i was wondering if these are available anywhere else brand new, what they cost and if they are worth fitting?

anyone got any ideas?
I like the idea but not sure if they give good sound or not. also would it be possable to replace the standard volvo speakers in these to uprated ones? thing is they look an odd size, so anyone know? :?

just for referance heres the link to ebay.
