stereo adapter

Here you can post things about ICE (In Car Entertainment). Like how to install GPS navigation, a DVD-player and other yuppie-stuff. This category might be moved to "those other things" in the end...

stereo adapter

Post by scobiemacd » Sun Mar 20, 2005 7:14 pm

hi,

having recently bought my first 480 i have removed the original volvo stereo and tried to install a sony cd player. however the space left in the consol is too big for my stereo whicj i assumed was a standard size. do i need to buy some kind of adapter plate or sometning? i tried one of those metal cages but the lugs dont lock very well into the consol .

Well you'll need the correct cage for your stereo which should have come with it. What I did when recently fitting my new stereo was to bend a few lugs of the cage inwards so that I could drill a few holes in the plastic dash surrounding the cage. Then bend the tabs inwards.

Should have no problems getting one at Halfords or a local audio store. Likley they will need to order it in though, and it'll probably cost you about £20.

Try Ebay if you can wait, but as said above, even with the cage it's still a little oversized. Easiest way to hold it in place is to drill the dash as mentioned.

Yep, pretty sure halfrauds do replacements for popular brands.
