GPS Navigation mount positions on the 480 dash

Here you can post things about ICE (In Car Entertainment). Like how to install GPS navigation, a DVD-player and other yuppie-stuff. This category might be moved to "those other things" in the end...

GPS Navigation mount positions on the 480 dash

Post by Ben Harris » Tue Jul 27, 2004 8:58 pm

I'm just about to buy myself a PDA with the intention of soon getting some GPS equipment to work with it (probably TomTom for the software, as I've read good opinions of it). I know some people here already have one, so can anyone who's already installed a PDA based GPS solution in their 480 please let me know where they chose to mount it. Any pictures would be great! :D

I've checked at http://www.brodit.se since the things I've bought from them earlier have great quality.

they can deliver an angel mount for the Left side steer 480, unfortunatly not the right hand steer, The 440/460 seem to be avaliable in right hand steer... But I don't know anymore...

I might be able to get you the things you want since My dad knows some guys who has an account at Brodit (They only sell to accounted retailers)... Juts tell me what you want and where to ship it... (I Live in sweden BTW...)

I see what you mean. No right-hand-drive 480 Brodit's . I've put in an enquiry at the UK distributor for Brodit, to see if I can request a right-hand-drive version. If they don't get back to me, then I might take you up on your offer. Many thanks for that! - I'll let you know.

[EDIT]

I've just found another company in the UK which seem to make something very similar to the Brodit, and they do supply them for and RHD 480. They're actually aimed for mobile phones, but it looks like it'll do the job fine! Here's a link: Dash Mount

What I have done is screw a universal mounting plate in the dashboard (can be done in the top corner without damaging the dash!). Then bought a Krusell PDA-jacket with mounting-clip on the back an hang it on the mounting plate when I get in. Works like a charm! :D

Can take piccie if you're interested!
