I won't have Skip back until Tuesday. Are you saying that aftermarkets are not to be found for the rear? If that is the case do I need to look at 4x6 size-wise?

Mine are still good but if this is a faf to change them I will direct my OCD onto something else. Maybe the light on the hazard switch that does not come on :)

There are two types of speaker for the rear. The most common, which you are likely to have, has the speakers mounted vertically on the rear trim. There are also some slim ones that fit in the storage compartments to the side of the rear seats.

Vertical ones in the trim are standard circular speakers, the same size as your fronts, with no tweeters. To upgrade you could put a crossover and tweeter somewhere else or just install dual cones maybe?

The ones down the side are a weird oval size speakers with tweeters next to them. I don't know of any aftermarket replacements for the speakers. The tweeters are identical to the front doors though if you need those replaced.

Oh

So with a bit of luck I could install the same dual cones from Clarion I have at the front. I am not bothered about tweeters.

I have been looking at everything since I got Skip but for the life of me cannot remember what the setup looks like!

This picture shows both types in one car. Probably not a good idea as there'd be too much volume behind you. Illustrates the two designs nicely though

Cool thanks.

I have the feeling that Skip has got the ovoid ones.

Ah well, she is back Tuesday all shiny :)

4x6 was my choice, though as said, don't fit straight in and needs some drilling of the plastic. I went for coaxial ones but fitting a 2way may be possible.

Tomorrow I will be at the car. I will send some pictures if the blunder I made.

Here's the idea. Not an elegant looks solution in the box, but non visible when all back in place.

Then foam up all the box and the side pannel space.

Sound of the back alone is enough for a good listening. All together it's not like it's The Carnegie Hall, but you get a decent sound, not the s**t comign out of the Volvo speakers.

Went to check on Skip at the garage this morning and had a look at the rear speakers setup. They are the vertical type, so, ordered myself another set of Clarion speakers similar to the ones at the front.

When Skip is back I only have to replace the films inside the door cards and replace the rear speakers.

Why is time going so slowly when you want it to fly!!!
