speaker 101 co-axial vs componet vs dual cone

Here you can post things about ICE (In Car Entertainment). Like how to install GPS navigation, a DVD-player and other yuppie-stuff. This category might be moved to "those other things" in the end...

speaker 101 co-axial vs componet vs dual cone

Post by timrosser » Wed Dec 08, 2010 5:06 pm

Any views on the best type of speaker to replace the standard volvo 13cm? I'm leaning toward co-axial as I figure its no harm to have an extra tweeter in there as long as the speaker isnt too deep. Any views?

As I now know the answer to this
1-Dual Cone- a 'normal' cone with a passive 'trumpet' to articulate the higher frequencies
2-Coaxial- a compound of two or more separate speakers within a single unit. So in a 480 this would be a 13cm woofer with a smaller tweeter typicaly of around 2cm or so.
3-Component- physically separate woofer & tweeter units as with good hi fi speakers.
