Looking for Rear Speaker Wires

Here you can post things about ICE (In Car Entertainment). Like how to install GPS navigation, a DVD-player and other yuppie-stuff. This category might be moved to "those other things" in the end...

Looking for Rear Speaker Wires

Post by WRDendy » Fri Apr 09, 2010 6:26 pm

I've been looking for the rear speaker wires - I've got the yellow wires coming from the back of the head unit unit but I can't find the other ends! I've taken out the pockets next to the rear seats and found a load of wires on the driver's side running to the rear clusters bit no speaker cables - any advice?

have seen them trunked at the side of the central tunnel under carpet worth having a look under rear seats.

I'm currently stripping out the inside of an 87 car. No rear original wiring found. There were rear speakers (that sit in the rear pockets) but these were wired by someone.

I have an intermittent crackle on my rear speakers, its my 2nd replacement set so I figure its the wire- is it necessary to find the old wire- is it possible to route direct to the head unit by stuffing the cable down past the side of the seats under the carpet- may live with the crackle rather than pop the seats out ;-)

Yes it can be done that way but route both sets of wires down the passenger side.

Is that the better 'entry point' for the rear speaker wires into the dashboard & head unit Jim?

No it is easier to go down that side because you dont have the pedals or the cowling for the petrol/boot hatch release holding down the carpet obstructing the wires.
