USB pen drive enabled car head units

Here you can post things about ICE (In Car Entertainment). Like how to install GPS navigation, a DVD-player and other yuppie-stuff. This category might be moved to "those other things" in the end...

If you just want something that does what it says on the tin, and not snobby about the name then the 65quid Wharfedale unit from Argos is good. And it has bluetooth for handsfree phone stuff, which to my surprise was bloody good.... Only downside is its 20w RMS.

As for the other brands JVC, Panasonic, Pioneer, then you are going over the £120ish mark, and in that category I'd go for panasonic due to the fact I have had quite a few of those and they never let me down....

I've bought the Pioneer DEH5000UB,
This has a green lighting ( like the whole 480 dashboard) and an USB
port on the rear. So you can pull a cable to the glovebox or underneath the
center armrest.

If you're interested in pics, please PM.

I got one of these sony heads about a year ago and have never looked back. I was totally fed up with burning CDs all the time, plus the changer started skipping in its old age. Anyway.. £85... unbelievable bargain. The current models have blueface and greentooth and all those things as well. Plus...... you can change the colour of the button lights! Green or red. Perfect for the GT owners!

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SONY-CDX-GT616U-C ... 240%3A1318

I have this and it is spot on! Had it for a year now. It sounds fantastic (reminds me of how sonys used to sound), Display can be changed from red (more suiting to your bimmer I imagine) to green (more suited a swedish vehicles). It has the CD changer controls (so you can get an ipod connector) and also has the ability to take a remote like this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SONY-CAR-STEREO-R ... 240%3A1318 (doesn't have to be wood effect lol! I have ablack one mainly because I got addicted to one when the missus' car had one)

And it plays MP3 CD's and can read USB sticks or in fact any mp3 player connected to the usb port with it's cable.

I got it for £65 as a ex-display and there are newer versions of it with blue displays and an aux on the front but these didn't have the the CD changer (I use it to control an old 30gb sony mp3 which has the remote display connection though a connects2 box thing) and I needed the dash stalk remote conenctor.

Just my recommendation! Bought this to replace a Pioneer which sounded ok but was just rubbish compared to this!
