jolly1-look in the lid of the fuse box (drivers side footwell) it says which ones are what. I dont have my 480 on me at the mo so i cant have a look, but it does say on teh lid, and if i remember rightly, i think they have separate fuses...but i may be getting confused with something else lol...hmmmm :dunno:

Thanks,i've checked every fuse and their fine,swapped the relay with one i know works and thats no difference either.
I've even swapped the rotary light switch over.......also no different !
I have noticed that when i put the key in the ignition and turn the key i can hear a distinctive spark noise ?? this only happens when you first put the key in ??
Lost for ides now and have checked old posts to no avail !! :angry: :angry:

Just in case i haven't explained it properly !

This is what wires i have:

Brown (Thick) Earth
Brown grey stripe (thin) Memory
Grey red stripe (thin) ?
Red thin Live

white x2 Speakers
white black stripe x2 "
yellow x2 "
yellow black stripe x2 "

Also....... unused
yellow (thin)
brown (thin)
brown grey stripe (thin)
grey white stripe (thin)

On the head unit:
Blue
Red
Black
Orange
8 speaker cables

Any ideas ???

i dont know yet but i will have a play with mine over the weekend and see what i can come up with. I'm an electrical maintenance engineer but i only got my volvo a week ago today so i am still learning there little foilbls :wink:

Pop ups and info centre are back ! My man at the garage reckoned it was just the bonnet release catch wiring thet needed a clean up and adjusting!
Obviously nothing to do with my shit wiring effort!
I would like the definitive wiring explanation though.I've got an ipod to wire in and an electric aerial so i'd like to know what wires what still please.?

This may help but by the sounds of things you have a few extre wires...what year is the car? Check the wiring diagram on the main clubsite.
