In Car PC - Where to move guages

Here you can post things about ICE (In Car Entertainment). Like how to install GPS navigation, a DVD-player and other yuppie-stuff. This category might be moved to "those other things" in the end...

In Car PC - Where to move guages

Post by Cerberus » Sat Mar 08, 2008 4:56 pm

Hi all!

I'm planning on a touch screen in the red car. (I'm not the first :) )

But moving the guages down into the lower cubby just didn't seem
like a great solution to me.

Most important was the desire to still have an easily viewable boooost
guage.

So I had a rummage thru the spares..

Gutted a spare clock.. and inserted the boost guage innards

Shown with an unmolested clock (on the left) for comparison.

alrightmate. Must pop round and catch up.

I would say that the gauge idea is great, but you have plumbed in the most useless of the three gauges. The most important being the volts especially with any added gear to sap power from the battery.

s'true...

but...

I can interface the oil pressure n the volts into the computer and
have them displayed onscreen yasee... (velleman usb interface
board)

I had no way to do that wi the turbo guage.. cos it works on
the capillary wossername... :D

Kettle's on mate... just gimme a bell!
