Here you can post things about ICE (In Car Entertainment). Like how to install GPS navigation, a DVD-player and other yuppie-stuff. This category might be moved to "those other things" in the end...

Thats a fair pont lee i was thinking of throwing the jbl's in the original rear positions to have 2 sets in the rear and building a nice set of pods for the monster 8" jbls in the door's. The original tweeters are still hooked upto the front speakers :D dont sound too bad but a bit hissy when turned up real loud due to the amp thats running the fronts :x Just have to keep the treble side of the amp in check if i want to really play it loud to stop my ears bleeding

this weekend im going to try to hide all the wires in the boot and refit the smaller amp for the rears instead of having it screwed to the side of the box not much room left in there now though and i still have another two 12" subwoofers lying about a j.b.l and a nice pioneer dvc both in boxes but have no space to fit them in  let alone the amps to power them

Did that in my old swift gti sounded good but was a bit impractical for carrying people when they have to sit on the amps

I've always loved car audio. It's not just about 'boom boom boom', i like a good system that will go loud but retain it's sound quality. In my 440 i had 2 JBL amps-1 running the Rockford Subs, the other running the Pioneer mids. I did install some Sony tweeters, and the difference was quite impressive as the door speakers were only 2 way. But it did sound good, and it did fill the boot

Image

The 480 was a bit different. I wanted good quality but without all the same amount of stuff. I toyed with loads of amps/subs, but the Infinity Reference 12" sub (300w RMS) and matching reference 300w RMS amp packed quite a punch. I wanted some Infinity components, but couldn't afford them! I put some JBL GTO 3 way speakers in front and rear with directional tweeters, and angled the tweeters up. The sound was really good. Made a nice little panel to house my iPod, then ditched and hid the iPod in the armrest. Made a little switch panel for the ariel/amp and bass controller too. All running from an Alpine headunit. and the best thing was, it was def. on a par with the system in the 440, and only half the weight  Plus i could still use the boot-the sub took about a minute to remove so i had the full length of the boot if ineeded it. The only thing was i lost about 6" of depth due to the false floor-but that was only a 5 minute job as i used plugs for the wiring so i could clip/unclip the power supply to the amp and sub without having to unscrew anything.

Image Image Image Image Image Image

Plus with the 480, it's smaller so the sound doesn't have to travel so far. Michael Jackson and Jamiroquai sounded awsome-i do really miss it! Decent car audio is something i'll never go without, unless they start putting Bose or Bang and Olufson systems in the future cars i buy!

now theres a thought heated rear seats :hopping:
@ Lee i had my gti roughly around 2002 but mrs didnt drive back then ( apart from me up the wall  )

thats a true point about it being clear sound quality hence the graph so i can get it sounding as crisp as i can with out the bass overloading it ... But with the subwoofer controls if i want to really throw a bass line out its there to play with ;)

o.k this evening whilst sat in traffic i put the pendulum c.d into the head unit
tarantula came on and i wa sstarting to bounce around the car like a monkey on crack then i decided that it would be better with more bass as i cranked it up the car started shaking ...... I then wound the window down only to be met with a loud cracking noise and the tingle of metal flying around inside the door.. then the window dissapered into the door
ive now pulled the window up and now it wont go back down ( stuck in up position )
:badmood: so now i need a new window regulator

Well, you will insist on opening your window so everyone else can hear your music lol

Still, good choice in music, i was listening to Slam earlier and their voodoo people remix (much better than original) :D

Anyways, as far as the window is concerned, no ideas so sorry :(

Slam is the best Pendulum track released for a while-not as good as they were i'm afraid... With regards to the Prodigy, i've not heard a remix of any of their tracks yet that have bettered the original (although the Pendulum mix is good) ;)
