Kewood IP500 iPod Connector

Here you can post things about ICE (In Car Entertainment). Like how to install GPS navigation, a DVD-player and other yuppie-stuff. This category might be moved to "those other things" in the end...

Kewood IP500 iPod Connector

Post by muddyfox470 » Sun Dec 09, 2007 5:09 pm

Does any one use one of these with their Kenwood HU, just wondering as I'm considering buying one after xmas to give me a bit more music selection whilst driving (and charging the ipod at the same time :) )

I have a W3537A HU which I know is compatible but I just wanted to gauge an idea of peoples experience.

I'm hoping to use it with my new iPod Classic

Cheers

Ian

I can't vouch for the Kenwood model, although i am considering purchasing one for my g/f's HU as hers is a Kenwood-i can't listen to her music if i have her car so iPod it is!

I had an Alpine iPod connection in the 480 and it was very good. It was a little slow scrolling through the playlists, but it was 1st Gen Alpine unit (2nd Gen was released 2 weeks after i bought mine )-but once i had the playlist loaded it was fine. The most important thing to me was to have no more jumping CD's from having the car so low, so the iPod sorted that.

Very convenient, and when your journey is over it's there if you want to use it. If anybody has an iPod i'd recommend getting a connection. I wouldn't recommend something that plays through the CD player like the 3.5mm jack to RCA's, as you'd have to control the iPod manually; which is just as bad as using a phone whilst driving imo... But having it hardwired through the CD player makes it very easy to use.

So yeah, lol, i'd recommend one :D
