Controller CD401

Here you can post things about ICE (In Car Entertainment). Like how to install GPS navigation, a DVD-player and other yuppie-stuff. This category might be moved to "those other things" in the end...

Controller CD401

Post by volvo480turbo76 » Thu Nov 29, 2007 5:26 pm

Hi,

 Has never someone mounted a controller CD-401 in our 480's?
I bought one but i didn't understand how to fit it and if it's necessary a fitting kit!

If someone mounted in his 480 can he send me some pictures?

Thanks

Francesco

Hi!

Image
Ah, the CD401 8)

I have never fitted it, but I have seen it on pictures. I believe it was mounted above the ash tray in (or instead of) one of the storage bins.

Volvo also sold an equalizer that was to be placed in the other storage bin above the ash tray.

Hope this helps :)

-----Thanks for the your answer......
I found an equalizer on ebay and in fact it goes in the space near the ash tray......i thought that the controller had to go on the space above but it is too much tall!!!!
Anyway tomorrow i'll go to Volvo to see if they know something about it!

As just i saw these accessories on this site i fell in love with them and i should want to install everything possible on my 480
I saw that near the picture there is a code about a fitting kit for 400 series....

Tomorrow i'll go to Volvo with the part number

Thanks Francesco

Hello Francesco,

Yes you´ll need the fitting kit: 1384 594! It´s the same kit for cd-401, tp-701 and eq-611/6117.

Unfortunately if you want to keep it original, as it could have left the factory,
there was at once only one of the upper accessories. It´s the place over the ash tray.

However in the space above it, there was an option to fit a cassette holder kit and for extra cost also one with a temperature gauge in the highest cassette holder. I have that and a tp-701 fitted:

As a radio I have SR-701 with a 5-level equalizer.

However if you still would like to find an own solution and fit both cd-401 and eq-611 it should be fine with at least radio CR-901, as it has sockets for both.

Would surely look ace, if the upper was mounted and sorted with a "factory feeling" looking job! There would still be left a mini storage space over it. :)

Regards,

Anton

You´re welcome! :) I think these are cool original accessories!

CR-901 was in many Volvos at the time(if you get it from an other than 400, 760 88- or 960 91- you propably need the dash kit: 1384 583), so you should be able to find one eventually. Also at least CR-708 has the same option to add the eq and cd-401.

Regards and good luck, allways worth a try in the marketplace: Parts, Accessories & Brochures!

hi!
have a question or two:

Where does the CD-401 fits to? does it fit into the place for cassete holder, it looks narrow, maybe only in place where actual cassetes are?

what about the TP-7045CD, it is only the cassete player with changer control, so it needs an aditional changer unit, as the CD-401 does? are these changer units same for both controlers and what are they named?

someone offered me a brand new SR701 unit and was thinking, how hard is to get a 401 and changer that fits 401.
