Headunit with flip-up screen....

Here you can post things about ICE (In Car Entertainment). Like how to install GPS navigation, a DVD-player and other yuppie-stuff. This category might be moved to "those other things" in the end...

Headunit with flip-up screen....

Post by StuO » Fri Jun 23, 2006 4:58 pm

Hi,

New the forum..

Used to have a 480Turbo and have decided to get back to the 480 world.

I've found a Celebration I kinda fancy...

Question : Is the space below the standard stereo also DIN sized? I've got a Clarion Headunit with a flip-out screen which I will want to fit but if I fit it in the standard stereo space it will foul the top of the dash! It should, I hope, have room if I can mount it lower!

Thanks in advance.

Stu

Welcome to the forum.

In answer to your question - No I don't think so.

I was thinking about getting one of these headunits with the flip-up intergral screen but like you say it would foul the dash when flipped up.

The gap underneath is not single DIN sized.

I ended up buying a PSP mounting bracked and putting in the larger cubby down at the bottom. It's wired through the headunit for sound and it's not too bad for watching movies/music videos etc.

You could just install it upside down, if the unit can flip the image...
