hmm...the only thing that would make that look better red, would be some neon lights stuck on there, twinkling and flashing in time to the muzak!

Hi, no you have to put the seats down and slide it forward. the reason for this being, in order for it to hinge, the hatch would have to be narrower than the top of the boot hatch, which isn't very wide at all, and the sub would be directly beneath the hatch because it has to sit slightly in the tool well else it won't fit, making the hatch useless anyway. For Edds we were trying to see a way round this but can't.
The speakers have to go where they are because any closer together and the sub is in the way, any farther, and the side panels are in the way.
Thats the problem with the 480, theres bugger all room, the parcel shelf can't go any higher because there is nothing for it to sit on/hold it in, and i don't particularly want it where my head should be As is, it can't fly forwards because its wedged between the bulge for the seatbelts and the boot, and the seats are in the way too, and the sub is held down with 2 10mm bolts.
All in all, I think its worth not having the boot for the dramatic increase in sound quality over the crappy volvo speakers, depends where your priorities lie i guess, If i want a boot to put shit in I've got Amys 460 or i can borrow fathers V70.
Took me about an afternoon to do it, had to replace the rear trim panels afterwards because all the trial fittings with uncarpeted ply scratched it all to buggery. This won't be a problem for subsequent installations....
Of course now i have done it, I do have a template for it now, so could make one for a reasonable price....

Well,as i like pottering about with my ice, thought i'd post a pic too...
Recently added (but no pics yet) a 1.0 Farad digital powercap (to stop my headlights flickering) fitted in-between my rear seats (ripped the armrest out) and a set of Sony Tweeters in the front door cards.
Took a good 2 days solid work to do it...quite pleased as it was my first install! Got some rather 'chav' essex boy neons lighting it up too
Does look good at night though....
Have to say Chris, that parcel shelf and door panels you've made are quite impressive...
And an in car PC...ithought i was gettting adventurous wiring in an iPod!
