srs on 94

Everything that doesn't belong in the previous categories probably belongs here. Interiour (how are the seats mounted? how to remove the CEM?) and exteriour (how to replace the popup-lights shock absorbers or a door) are discussed here!

For what it is worth I think you've landed yourself with a problem in the safety area.
I'm not that technical but common sense tells me that if one of your pretensioners 'has fired' your car was involved in an accident.
A proper repair should have included replacement of the 'used ' pretensioner as they form an integral part of all safety precautions in your cheese wedge.
I would suggest that you get it sorted asap.

I know it says "up to '93", but this extract from VADIS may be relevant:
Seat belt pre–tensioners (up to 1993 models only)

The seat belt pre–tensioners contain a small explosive charge. In this charge there is an igniter which is detonated by a signal from the crash sensor.
This causes a cable, which is attached to the inertia reel unit, to be retracted. The seat belt is therefore tightened before the body of the occupant can be ejected forwards by the energy of the collision. However, the force generated by the explosive charge is not sufficient to pull the occupant back into the seat during a crash.
The seat belt pre–tensioners have a one–off operation, so after a collision in which they have been deployed they must be renewed.
Ben.

Hi,

don´t be afraid that your cars had an accident when the pre-tensioners have been fired.

It´s a known problem that the tensioners fire by their selves !
Very expensive joke :badmood:

Regards.

Daniel

Hi,

they must be replaced ! I don´t know what things the MOT is looking after, but in Germany the car fails to get TÜV(MOT), when the tensioners are fired and not been replaced!

Regards.
