What bulbs do you have?

Everything that doesn't belong in the previous categories probably belongs here. Interiour (how are the seats mounted? how to remove the CEM?) and exteriour (how to replace the popup-lights shock absorbers or a door) are discussed here!

Aren't the tinted ones often illegal? Actually mine might be. Can't remember. Got some uprated white ones, but forgot who makes them. Massive improvement though. Definately worth replacing the originals.

I have some of the Sportzblue tinted bulbs in, it does suggest on the box they are for off road use only, but I've never had a problem yet, although the MOT is due at the end of Feb, so we'll see for sure then. Before that I had some Halfords Laser Blue 60/55w in. Even the Halfords ones made a great improvement, so I concur, they are definately worth changing from ordinary ones.

Well from the sounds of things the blue bulbs are good, perhaps you should try some of these.

Hi Martin,

When I had my first 480 one of the first thing I did was go to Halfords and replace headlight bulbs, I think they where 90/110W but could be wrong. I also replaced the driving lights.

At first the headlamp fuse went, so I contacted Volvo UK and had confirmation that the wiring was capable of taking a larger fuse. Not sure if I would trust it now though.

So all that said I think the advice above for the 'blue' type lights with extra output for similar wattage is the way to go. I think that they sell this sort of thing in Halfords and they are legal. But of course there will be bigger better ones out there. I am sure Gaz will let you know where he got his from.

Regards

Chris

I actually got mine from ebay, but I have since seen them in abundance in local motor factor shops as well as in our local "Charlie Browns" in their shop side (don't know if all Charlie Brown's have a shop, as I always saw them as a kind of Kwik Fit place, but the local one here has a shop)

Go for Philips Vision Plus! They're super!

Philips also has Blue Vision, like other 'supposedly better' halogen-bulbs they have a blue-ish glow in them. Concensus in The Netherlands is that these Blue Vision don't add much sight in the dark conpared with 'normal' halogen-bulbs. Younger drivers (the ones with the front foglights on all day long) think these look cool, and that's the main reason why they're still produced.

The Vision Plus bulbs are more expensive than other lights, but I have been very pleased with them since I have them!

I've Philips Vision Plus in both my Volvo 360 GLT and my Volvo 480 ES and the light is very good. I can surely recommend those lights. They are a bit more expensive than the normal ones but safety is more important than a couple of euro's. (You have to adhere to the Volvo values ;-) )

Greetings,

Sander
