Air vent covers

Everything that doesn't belong in the previous categories probably belongs here. Interiour (how are the seats mounted? how to remove the CEM?) and exteriour (how to replace the popup-lights shock absorbers or a door) are discussed here!

Air vent covers

Post by dragon » Tue Nov 18, 2003 11:46 am

Just a question really - under the bonnet, near the top (so under the
windscreen wipers), there are 2 air inlets, one on each side, they are triangular in shape - I have owned 3 480s to date, and on all 3, the left side one (as you look in the bonnet) has a cover, but the right side one does not - I have taken this to be normal (is it?), but I can't figure out why one is covered and one is not? Discuss. :D

Asked myself the same question ... and wondered if due to this water could damage the ventilator (Through the not covered air inlet (right) you can see the ventilator - which is sometimes very noisy...)

I would guess at alternate positioning for blower moter for left / right hand drive beauties.

Am I missing something here, or is the triangular bit on the left (looking from the front on a RHD car) not the Relay compartment?

... or have I lost the plot!? :D

Could be... I think it's me that lost the plot ;) - Thats because I've never needed to access the relays on my 480s, so I thought (as it was the same shape in the same place) it was another air inlet - can't double check on my car though, since it's at Volvo atm...

Hi Gaz
I do not want to write this
but
How about reading the manual instead of drinking the beer.

By the way the manual is on the internet in a German posting.

LOL - that told me - I look a bit n00b now, don't I  Never mind - it's strange how ideas you form from long ago when you didn't know better last into times when you do know better, lying dormant in your mind, only to embarrass you at a time you least expect. Like this! Ha ha!

And this for my 400th post and the new title of "rookie"

Irony isn't dead... :kill:
