Hi gang,
well, after having played flawless my Volvo CD-changer has decided to play tricks on me
I had inserted the cassette with 5 CD's (position 2 was empty, rest was filled). I was listening to CD1 and pressed the button to listen to CD2 (the empty position). I have done that before and it would simply move on by itself to CD3. Instead it gave CDE-01 on the display (should be an error) and it won't do a thing since. When I press the eject button on the changer the changer makes a slight rattling noise and won't eject the cassette with CD's.
I couldn't find a reset-button like an old changer I used to have, is there anyone who can give me tips how to get the d*mn thing to work again or at least spit out the cassette?
Volvo 6 CD-changer won't spit out CD-cassette

Try this:
Power off stereo completely, then unplug the DIN plug from the changer, wait a few moments then plug the DIN plug back in and then press the cassette eject without turning on the stereo (assuming your changer is the same as the one in my celebration) - if it doesn't spit it out, it may well be stuck and will possibly need totally dismantling to work out what happened.
PS: When you say a slot was empty, do you mean it had no CD, but the tray for that slot was in there, or was the tray for that slot removed too (again assuming yours is like mine, where the cassette has 6 removable trays for the cds to go into (the one in the V40 isn't like that))

I had already tried powering down the radio completely, then removing the DIN cable from the changer, then ejecting, but no luck. Also turned on the radi oso that it could see "no changer attached" and then powered down the radio, re-attached the DIN-connector, again tried to eject, turned on radio again and there was the same old error again
My cassette doesn't have any removable parts, you just push the CD in a slot and a small white clip at the back of the cassette sticks out. You can push that clip to remove the CD again.
I will check at daylight tomorrow morning to see if CD1 is indeed still inside. If so I fear screwing the damn thing open...

My CD changer did this a couple of times, the loaded CD (1 in your case) may be stuck in the play position. and wont release.
To get it out i had to manually wind the casette out using a screw on the underside of the unit. The screw connects to the mechanics of the unit and winds the play mechanism up /down etc.
I found it was mostly CDR's that got stuck especially if you stuck on labels.
