Wot no radio !

Everything that doesn't belong in the previous categories probably belongs here. Interiour (how are the seats mounted? how to remove the CEM?) and exteriour (how to replace the popup-lights shock absorbers or a door) are discussed here!

Wot no radio !

Post by Borderland » Sun Oct 26, 2003 7:37 pm

After nearly 3 weeks as a 480 driver - I've never used the radio and guess what it doesn't work! :x

No big deal really but using two 'U' clips to take it out to have a look it seams well stuck in the dash. :kill:

Do I need to be a bit more brutal or could I remove 'arf the dash with the radio.
If it will not budge with the 'u' clips is it a dashboard out number or is there access from below the radio?

Any suggestions?

cheers
dry floor and no rust . . . .

You have never used it in 3 years? We installed my new radio today and removed the old volvo radio.

Remove the black strips on the each side of the radio and then use the pulling things to pull it out.

No problem! Maybe you should remove your dials first and then feel if something is holding it in. :D

Sometimes there is a long screw in the back centre of the radio which locates in a hole in a bracket mounted to the bulkhead i think. Don't know why they have them or how you remove them. Never had the pleasure...

RADIO PROBLEM

Post by C6REW » Sun Nov 02, 2003 7:08 pm

Hi Pol,

For the record the screw was a throwback to older radio systems in cars that did not have a very good earth connection. The screw connected to a bar/plate that was securely fastened to the chassis.

If it is this then removal is usually from the under or topside after removing another panel. Somehow I do not thing it will be the case in the 480 thank goodness, there is little room to move anyway!

Regards

Chris
