“Mixed to VIN” aerosol touch-up paints?
A tight and awkward entry to our parking area and a narrow garage doorway with sharp metal strips to either side, combined with advanced age, has resulted in Jabberwocky (my maroon/flame red Celeb) all-too-regularly receiving ugly scrapes and bruises to the bumpers and side fender strips. Besides, in narrow local lanes, superior drivers of 4WD tanks give no quarter to a 480 below their elevated line-of-sight and beneath their contempt, resulting in frequent hedge-scrape injuries.
Reluctantly, I have finally accepted it will be pointless to pay for professional respraying when the injuries are inevitable.
In short, I’m looking to buy colour-matched aerosol spray paint, Code 322–12, from one of many advertising on the Bay. Can anyone recommend a reliable supplier they’ve used recently?
I’ve not done any bodywork spraying before: any advice on prep, spraying techniques and pitfalls generally would be most welcome.
Cheers
Oscar

I used ‘Car Colour Services’ to get some Smoke Silver (306) paint for my front spoiler. Based on my experience for that particular colour, the match is excellent. They have fair prices too and the delivery was quite quick

Hope this helped.

Thanks, Will.
Was that for aerosol paint, not for a professional spray kit?

The problem with mixing it to the paint code, is that it still won’t match - You’ve got 25 years or so of uV exposure on the paint.
Most places that can supply paint usually have a little gadget that can scan you paint, and make up paint to match THAT, not the colour code on the Vin.

That was for a spray can of cellulose paint, I don’t have access to a spray kit, so did it by hand and turned out ok!
Like Jeff said, the match may not be 100%, especially depending where on the car you plan to spray due to UV damage over time. If you want a perfect match, then I’d get a garage to scan the paint and make you a can.

Ah, yes. Thanks, Jeff and Will. Must try to find a supplier I can get to who’s willing and able to scan and supply in aerosol form. Cheers, guys!

I used 'NuPaint' and it seemed OK, for a match even though the laquer leaked out of the tin whilst sitting on shelf
so used 'naked' ... .
