How do I restuff a 480 headrest (or get a new one)?

Everything that doesn't belong in the previous categories probably belongs here. Interiour (how are the seats mounted? how to remove the CEM?) and exteriour (how to replace the popup-lights shock absorbers or a door) are discussed here!

Hi Niller, welcome to the forum, and forums in general, a pleasure to have you aboard.

As it turns out, James and Jaster were able to source me a pair of good headrests to fit, however your guide will surely be useful in future, thank you for sharing!

It is arguable that this is the nicest place on the Internet, so be sure to introduce us to your car, we are all happy to help with anything 480-related, and in some cases, other vehicles as well!

Welcome to the club
Thank you for your welcome MisterH! I am happy to be a member of the forum, seems a very nice (and useful) place to hang out.
Yes, I figured the problem had been solved, but also that the mini guide was best posted in this thread.
Next project is to recolour the raised lettering on the infocenter command. I am trying something out and it seems to work. I still need to find out where to put that one...
Just got my first 480 (August 2020)!
1990 ES 1.7, Superwhite
I have ticked off around 45 items, cosmetic and mechanical
Remaining:
- Vibration at 1500 RPM (hard to locate)
- Rough idle (harder one)
- Touch-ups
- Change rims (Pollux to slightly fresher Atlas)
- install my “new” flawless door pocket
I also just bought a 2004 XC90.

I do a fair bit of modelling, and one of the methods which might seem to work well with that case is a process known as drybrushing

Let me know what you think!

Also, whereabouts are you based?

Too late, Mister H! I had read about this technique (but thank you for the tip!), but developed my own one. Basically I have dipped a cut eraser tip in white acrylic paint, and dab it on, a bit like a stamp.. it worked well on the info centre and well enough (I was not so patient with the capital « V ») on the horn cover. Two layers are fine, I would say.

As for your other question: I live in the canton of Geneva, in Switzerland.

That is an excellent idea, my Volvo badge on the steering wheel needs retouching. That sounds lovely where you are, Switzerland has some gorgeous roads I hear, and I'm a stickler for mountains...

This is a European club, it's just the majority of 480s were sold in the UK and so we seem to have quite a few UK members but it's great that you're here, this is perhaps the kindest and most welcoming place I have ever seen on the internet, even as car clubs go. Maybe in better times we can have a pan European 480 gathering....

You are in the right place for anything 480 related, and as you can see from our other vehicles, we can advise on other things as well.

May I suggest you start a thread for your car?

Here is mine: viewtopic.php?f=23&t=36049

Well the 2nd one at least

Could this have been you in 2018 that I spotted in Geneva!?

So, yes and no. If by «you » you mean my car, it does fit the description. If you mean me myself, no, as I only bought the car at the end of August 2020.
Until that time and from when it was new in1990, it was driven by people from one single Geneva family - a lady and her children and grandchildren. One of the grandchildren sold it to me. It had surf stickers and scratches, but also a name, « Magnus ». Now I have the stickers off and also polished off some black scratch marks, I have even taken a dent out, but bodywork Is not done yet.
This is all new to me - having an older « third » car which needs work - but it is nice to work on.
