Light Conversion

Everything that doesn't belong in the previous categories probably belongs here. Interiour (how are the seats mounted? how to remove the CEM?) and exteriour (how to replace the popup-lights shock absorbers or a door) are discussed here!

Light Conversion

Post by Micahs95turbo » Thu Jul 18, 2019 4:04 pm

Hi all! I have just bought a 1995 Turbo and I’m shipping it to Western Germany from Gateshead, UK. I know from experience that headlamp housings are usually RHD or LHD specific. Is that the case with the pop-up headlamps? I’m making a large parts list, so expect to see a lot more of me as I restore this garage find. 🙂

You are right, LHD and RHD Headlights are available and you can easily swap just the square glass headlight units over. ‎

You should be easily able to get those from Germany. ‎

You will be at least the second RHD 480 to go to Germany. My previous '87 ES car‎ went there last year. There is a RHD car is France also I believe.

I have (had) a pair of nearly new LHD lens units, I passed them across to David Walker as no use to me but thought they might help a fellow 480 user
, he is around NE England, might help you?

I do indeed have a pair of LHD lights that I could easily be persuaded to part with...😉

There is indeed a RH drive in France - our friend Olivier from the French 480 club came over to Bristol to get it as it has cruise control and aircon as well as sunroof and half leather interior. Last year he was very worried about getting it through the French MoT, it's only every other year but tougher than ours. Naturally we expressed an interest in bringing it 'home', so we'll see what has happened at the meet in 2 weeks time.
