Hi all
When the fuel door does not open AND before removing half the boot trim, spend a considerable amount of time trying to play with the cable tightener and swear a bit, make sure to check that the problem is not with the metal plate within the door housing (only 2 screws easily removed)

Re: Fuel door fixed
Here was the culprit. Inside the mechanism is a little metal plate which forces the hinge out when it is unlocked.
Mine had been put back the wrong way around and as a result the hinge was never resting on it.
NB: took the picture, uploaded it on Imgur, shared it on the forum only using my phone.
