Fuel cap remains shut

Everything that doesn't belong in the previous categories probably belongs here. Interiour (how are the seats mounted? how to remove the CEM?) and exteriour (how to replace the popup-lights shock absorbers or a door) are discussed here!

Fuel cap remains shut

Post by frenchfries » Sun Oct 08, 2017 5:42 pm

Me again

The fuel cap does not open. I makes all the right noises when I action the lever but no amount of WD-40 in the mechanism inside the car or in the little plastic release thingy have made a difference. I need to carefully prize it open with a screwdriver and it is clearly not happy about that.

Thank you in advance :)

Mine didn't open when we got the car - it opened manually then pressure was applied with the heel of the palm to flex it slightly. Al took the plastic side panels out of the boot and found the cable had come adrift - he just had to put it back and adjust the tightener under the rear hatch lock.
