Detailing World is a great forum for all issues like this. Don't go there though as it will consume your life!!

I've used this product previously for leather issues.

It's a cheap solution to restoring leather colour (scuffs and wear etc): - http://lttleathercare.com/product/auto- ... -recolour/

Also, Furniture Clinic is a great source of info. and product. Lots of tutorials etc. for burns, tears etc.

This is good product for leather repairs: - https://www.furnitureclinic.co.uk/Compl ... Repair_Kit

Both sites offer lots of good advice if you contact them.

I think I will switch the Pre-tension belt system with my old one OR keep the little red button firmly "OFF".

when you move the seats or the pre-tensioner I'd switch off BUT
I'd always make sure the pre-tensioner is 'armed' when the seats are in the car. they are a safety feature
Ok, so the switch can be turned on again then.

Thanks for that as always :)

Thanks for the info on the pre tensioners - Al has taken the front seats out of our GT breaker this morning and found this thread very useful as the 480s he did previously didn't have the pre tensioners. He was hoping for explosive ones, having been in the airforce and worked on ejector seats but they were 'only' mechanical. :(
In amongst the garbage under the passenger seat we found this:

No idea if it was on the pre tensioners originally or if it came from something else, but I'm pleased to say there weren't any fingers

Yes it was. It covers the mechanism and should be in place for the reason it says.

Although unlikely if the pretensioner was to go off while your fingers were in the mechanism OUCH :boom:

aha, thank you for that, I'll check the other GT and see if that has both covers in place.

They come off once the tensioner is fired as the buckle retracts...

Both pre tensioners in Junk are fired, also the drivers seat in Al's GT. Has anyone done a re set recently enough to do a 'How to' on it ? Al's had one apart and can only see where one of the trapezoids fits in.

ah that could be an issue, I'm sure there are a pair of those within the trigger??

, I'm not really keen on opening mine up as I don't fancy them triggering!!

when I get home I'll look and see if Istill have the contraption I made up so that others can at least have a starting point for their own design.

PS my plasstic covers over the buckles are held with black gaffer tape (AKA carpet tape  ) , it is down low enough to be 'out of sight'
