Window regulator

Hi all

As you know my window regulator has given up the ghost and I am trying to source an "original" replacement. Time is running out because the weather is nice and I'd rather be out and about instead of having a door in pieces in the boot. I would also take this opportunity to replace the front speakers/have the lack of sound at the front fixed/change the radio.

Now, I know from previous kind posts that it can be refurbished (although I am not sure how badly it is broken but it sure sounds bad), or, there are a few options on fleebay ranging from £50 to £100. I am not bothered about the lack of "comfort" function -which is a shame in a way because all this works on Skip- but if I go down the OEM road I would be more tempted by a Valeo replacement as I trust the name: http://www.ebay.fr/itm/VALEO-850471-Win ... I guess my questions would be:
1) is it a straight replacement (I would leave it to my Volvo guy to replace anyway)
2) Is it good quality?
3) Have you had direct experience with this replacement?

Can't comment on that item as such, but what's the "comfort function"? If it means the one shot opening, that is a function of the CEM III, nothing to do with the mechanism itself.

These are pretty easy to replace yourself, you know...

It is also the closing of the window with the door key when you lock the car. I see your point about the CEM though, in theory you just connect the regulator.... I am trying to keep Skip are original as possible so this is when I get picky :)
I have already printed the "how-to" should I do the job myself and it does indeed look simple BUT I am wary of stuff for sale on Ebay which ends up requiring more tooling, drilling, adapting etc.....

I'm with David on this one, the window motor either runs clockwise or anti-clockwise with the power from the CEM, so the auto close function etc will still work.

the link to a french site 'looks' like the correct item. I have an after-market one in loft which might still have the numbers on it, if not obliterated with sticky/greasy hand prints after the cable jumped the tracks after at least ten years use :-) so that you could maybe compare against?

Sure why not, I see your point about the "Comfort Function" :)

I suspect that in my car I have one of these Valeo regulators (judging by the shape of it). All functions are there—"one-click" opening and closing with a door key. The only difference is that it seems to be faster than the original Volvo regulator, so one window goes noticeably faster :)

Very interesting to hear. I will call the seller tomorrow and make sure that it is the correct model

Having Looked at the wiring diagrams I agree with what people are saying and you shouldn’t loose the extra features the later cars have as its the CEM that controls them and the motor just turns.

I think I may have a window motor in my spares if you get stuck.... at least I *think* its a window motor!
