Seat-belt extending arm

Everything that doesn't belong in the previous categories probably belongs here. Interiour (how are the seats mounted? how to remove the CEM?) and exteriour (how to replace the popup-lights shock absorbers or a door) are discussed here!

Seat-belt extending arm

Post by frenchfries » Sun May 21, 2017 6:19 pm

Hi all

I have sourced a seat-belt extending arm to replace the one that is broken and I am not sure about the procedure in order to remove the plastic trim that covers the mecanism :)

Best

The round button above the arm is a cap covering a screw. Remove both, then pull first the top then the bottom of the cover to remove it.
There is a very useful interior manual you can download - if you cant find it I'll see if I can and send you the link.

in case you haven't found it -
https://manuals.co/workshop/volvo/480
it's the body equipment one - gives exploded diagrams and removal instructions for the whole interior ;)

Just perfect. I don't have the correct size square key to remove the extending arm :badmood:

Would you happen to know its size?

Ignore me, I have just found the How To. I need a 8mm Allen key but is it gonna fit in a square hole?

I have bought an 8 mm hex key (to fit a 1/4" socket wrench) just for this purpose :) You need to apply quite a lot of force to get it loose.

Skip has developed a permanent knocking on the passenger side towards the rear. Quite similar to the exhaust against the chassis but when I shake it by hands it does not seem to touch anything.

Changed the wipers as well for some swanky Bosch ones

Only had a cursory look as I am off tomorrow again but I will need to get to the bottom of it.

the exhasut IS very close as it passes over the rear beam, and a 1/4" gap can easily be taken up as the car jiggles around.

OR it can be the drop links on anti roll bar, easy to replace or final option is front bush on trailing arm (or maybe the ARB bush on rear beam :-) )

That is a very exhaustive list and I will check all that upon my return.

Having said that, my flight just got cancelled (thank you BA) so I am stranded in London tonight :)
