Boot lid rubber gasket

Everything that doesn't belong in the previous categories probably belongs here. Interiour (how are the seats mounted? how to remove the CEM?) and exteriour (how to replace the popup-lights shock absorbers or a door) are discussed here!

Boot lid rubber gasket

Post by frenchfries » Sat Apr 29, 2017 8:23 pm

Hi all

Can I buy a generic rubber gasket for the boot (by the metre) and if "yes" is there something specific I need to look at? If the answer is "no" can they still be found?

Best

Get yourself a 440 seal from a scrapyard - it will be a bit too long so will need to be cut down, but it has and extra lip not on the 480 seals so less prone to leaking. A good soak with silicone spray (well away from bodywork) will help plump it back up.

Good point. TBH the leak probably comes from the passenger side tail light as it seems to come from underneath the plastic cover in the corner but replacing a 25 year old seal is not wasted :)

Worst case scanario, it seems to be 34mm high and it is for sale on Ebay, has anyone ever tried this solution?
