remvoing the front wheel liners...

Everything that doesn't belong in the previous categories probably belongs here. Interiour (how are the seats mounted? how to remove the CEM?) and exteriour (how to replace the popup-lights shock absorbers or a door) are discussed here!

remvoing the front wheel liners...

Post by timrosser » Wed Oct 05, 2016 3:08 pm

Hi guys any tips on this?

My screws are all rust free but seem to be stuck fast, even when I wd-40 them, plus the screw heads seem to be an ultra shallow Philips head with an extra large gap in the middle- any tips on what sort of bit to use to free these off? I know I have a small garden stuck between my front wheel and the front door and I rerally want to clear it for winter! :-)

thin angle grinder disc and make a single flat slot for a normal screwdriver, the heat will also help, and if all else fails the head will come off and once the plastic is removed then vice grips to rescue

Any tips on the replacing / getting a new set of screws after the grinding Alan? Sometimes cars have weird sizes :-) Thanks for the pointers!

Try this on the heads, get on really straight and push hard: it is like magic.

oh no idea, i just seem to have gathered these sorts of things over the years . . . . . . mostly as the local scrappy is a 'remove yerself / pay at gate as leave' so tend to stuff pockets with odd screws/clips that thers have left behond when removing apart, I'm never sure if bolts will come out in one piece/nuts undo without brute force etc :D

though TBH, halfords or any motor shop will have them as they are just self tappers, you can always drill a new hole in plastic & wing if reqd

I use Dremel , but it produces a lot of heat , liners are not heat resitant , so a lot of water spray is a good idea .
