Sunroof parts needed.

Everything that doesn't belong in the previous categories probably belongs here. Interiour (how are the seats mounted? how to remove the CEM?) and exteriour (how to replace the popup-lights shock absorbers or a door) are discussed here!

Sunroof parts needed.

Post by balto8 » Fri Sep 09, 2016 7:27 am

6 months now I've been scavenging every single scrapyard in a 200 kms radius from Valencia in eastern Spain without luck, calling and calling again. Looking obsessively in all second hand sites across Europe, ready to pay for the complete sunroof plus shipping to Spain, but no one wants to send it my way. " too heavy, too risky..." Have to say french people are the worst I've found in politeness.

Loking for both sides sliding hinges that elevates the cristal in the damm moonroof.

NUmber 4 ( plus 5) on the scheme. Could also use n 14 both sides. Would take the complete cassette both sides if available. Would pay for a complete sunroof but ask the seller to send solely the cassette to save on shipping and keep the rest. Not bad deal , uh?

BTW, where can I find part one of the body equipment service manual ( Section 8, pages 82-84)?

Have tried Lakes Volvo.

No answer to my mails. Would any British native please contact them and forward me if they have or not a sunroof?

I'm starting to feel like I have leprosy....

Anyone with part one of the body manual?

Seems like I have found what I need for my roof. This guy Neil has a moonroof at Wilderness Autos : Wilderness Lane, Edenbridge (Kent). He sent me some fuzzy pictures of the sunroof cassette still mounted on the car, but since I am asking for some more clearer pics of the parts he is telling me that should be enough. Take it or leave it.

The guy is asking for 50 pounds plus shipping for the roof parts. I bought some other roof parts from this other breaker in Spain and they came up broken (they didn't break on the way....)

So, please, anyone living near this place could go there, check and get the parts for me? Willing to pay for the parts, shipping to Spain and ever your gas expenses.

Any good Samaritan?

And my sunroof is finally back to life. Fully working and, most important of all, firmly closing so that anoying whistling on the highway is gone.

Thanks to Mr "He saved my car once more" Glasgowjim for suplying the parts needed for the price of shipping.

Also thanks to Rüdiger in Germany for his time to make 3D printing replicas of more an more Volvo 480 parts

Now moving to re-upholstering my roof board.

And I have this hi-fi repair guys from my town working on how to take a spectrum analyzer display from this equalizer and put it into the lower central console cubby hole. That and I'm done with the car.

If you have any problems with parts in the future, we could probably help out. We are based in the UK and spent a month in Spain every winter - we travel down to the Costa del Sol in our trusty 940 estate so it would be easy for us to bring big stuff for you.

I don't like slagging anybody off, but beware of Wilderness Autos. We arranged to buy a half leather interior from them, and travelled down from Norfolk to Kent to collect it ( 3hours each way). Arrived at exactly the time we said, and took nearly half an hour to find anyone. When we did, he showed us the car with all the seats still fitted, both windows wide open and a lake of water on the floor. It looked as though it had been there a long time. All the seats had heaps of heavy oily engine /steering/suspension bits piled on them, and even worse he'd sold the front door cards to someone else and spilt black oil over the boot carpet, then told us he had the complete interior in good condition ! We left empty handed and fuming.
