boot bolts

Everything that doesn't belong in the previous categories probably belongs here. Interiour (how are the seats mounted? how to remove the CEM?) and exteriour (how to replace the popup-lights shock absorbers or a door) are discussed here!

boot bolts

Post by JimAitken » Mon Mar 14, 2016 5:27 pm

I'm tackling the surface rust in the boot area and in the aquarium where the toolkit floats, are two bolts. What do they hold up under the car? And if I remove them to kill the rust round that area, what is likely to drop off? How about one at a time maybe? They look like they are linked to an anti-roll bar or something. Is there a nut at the other end (leaving myself open to that question!).

cheers

Snap! I'm doing roughly the same thing in the same area! The two bolts attach to the chassis cross-frame member. Removing them will not affect anything, you still have four more underneath before anything falls off :D

The car in front is possibly going to be a C30 - and it's staying there!

BUT an MoT man might ask about corrosion around that area :-) . (I had a 'fail' once when they reckoned that the four M6 bolts were 'structural' ) I've removed the bolts (Made a new cross member) and blanked the holes

good point, especially as MOT is coming up. Probably a good idea to replace the bolts with nice new shiny ones. I'll check the other ones under the car.
