Removing Door Card

Everything that doesn't belong in the previous categories probably belongs here. Interiour (how are the seats mounted? how to remove the CEM?) and exteriour (how to replace the popup-lights shock absorbers or a door) are discussed here!

Can anyone please advise me how to remove a door card safely so that I can get to the window regulator ?

Well first you do a search or go to the How to section and you would have found this ...

I did a couple of searches and got `0` results ; turned-out I was using the wrong `search` box :boom:
Thanks for the link, it`s just what I need.

Re: Removing Door Card & window mech

Everything`s exposed except the 2 bolts that connect the regulator to the window glass, these are hiding behind the upper part of the door-skin as you know.
Is there a way to lower the glass without operating the motor (which isn`t working); so that I can get at those top 2 bolts ?
I have unbolted the regulator in an attempt to lower it and the glass, but they won`t move far enough to allow access to the bolts.
Please bear in mind that I`ve never seen one of these regulators and don`t know if doing this will damage something.
Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks.

If you have a complete regulator to replace the broken one and the broken one is totally non functional cos sometimes you can use the "broken one to lower the window.

Assuming a complete replacement regulator the best way round this is the break the cbles either side and then push the window down using a flat hand on either side (thats inside and outside).

Rember the regulator is held on by more than 3 bolts to the door. :D

To begin with I didn`t know what the problem was because NEITHER window works. For this reason I haven`t got a replacement yet.
However, now that I can access the wiring to the regulator, I can see (using a test lamp) that there is current reaching the motor.
So now I know that either the motor or the pulley mechanism has had it, or the window is stuck. (overloading the motor)
I was reluctant to break the regulator in case it can be saved and because a replacement is £80 +. However; it looks more and more like the motor has gone.
Is this the usual senario I wonder ?

It is rarely the motor usually the plastic end on one of the wires thats at fault.

Well you were absolutely right Jim; the motor`s ok.
The slider which attatches to the window is breaking up (looks poor quality);
I`ll try and repair it, but failing that it`s another trip to fleabay
You`ve been a huge help; thanks mate.
