Fixing/New rear light clusters?

Administrivia: Moved to in depth technical from parts for sale -- dragon

Hiya,

Yesterday, I noticed there was a chunk of plastic (about 3cm by half cm) missing from the top edge (not the main face) of one of my rear light clusters.

For now, I have put some insulating tape over it to stop the water getting in, but it seems I have two choices.

1) Try and seal the hole. Any suggestions what to use? Some Silcon sealant?

2) Buy a new cluster. Now if I get one new one it will look a bit odd next to an old one, so I would probably need both. How much are these, anyone know?

I think they are Â£110 each side

Hi Wedge,

On my old ES I used filler then painted over each side, upto the edge of the lights, in black.

Not the best solution but didn't look out of place. This is assuming its the top edge that's come off.

Oooh - these sounds interesting. Can you give us any kind of insight as to what they will look like? - Are they going to be similar to the original ones, or have you gone for the Lexus style?

I'm becoming increasingly intrigued by these too. specially after what i had to do to the back of my sisters car to get the originals out in one piece. Lexus style or clear... or skyline style, all would be cool.

anything that resembles lexus rear lights will be burnt to death on sight .

I hope that excludes 'REAL' Lexus lights on a lexus.

I once saw a Saxo that looked like it had round headlights, but when it came closer it turned out the owner had just put some blue sticky back plastic over the original shaped headlights

I had a look at that eBay auction for all those Pilen models. But then I saw you were bidding on them Dragon, and we all know you are much richer than the rest of us
