exterior door / window rubbers..........help?

Everything that doesn't belong in the previous categories probably belongs here. Interiour (how are the seats mounted? how to remove the CEM?) and exteriour (how to replace the popup-lights shock absorbers or a door) are discussed here!

exterior door / window rubbers..........help?

Post by ned zeppelin » Mon Sep 13, 2010 8:29 pm

any idea where I can get some new rubber seals for my doors/ side windows?
the present don't leave they just look knackered, it's the metal inside that is corroding and expanding that's causing the problem.

buy the window weather strip for the front window of a volvo v40 old style car and cut to size.

second hand weather strips are a waste of time.

Hi, Jim; could you define "v40 old style" please? I think mine need replacing.

Cheers, Chris.

V40 old style is the V40 or s40 before the revamp in body shape (circa2005 or thereabouts)

I took a look at these strips on a old non-facelift v40 on a Volvo Meeting, and these ones were out of plastic, not rubber like the original ones.

So its probably better than nothing or very rusty ones, but no ideal for originals. And you would have to change both, for look.

My Turbo have this element from V40.

It's rubber with metal element inside.

Thank you,

so volvo made different ones on the V40. I will take a look at a facelift one then, i have no idea what else could be the reason for plastic vs. rubber ones.

Hello,

Sorry to resurrect an old post, found it as I am looking for the same v40 weatherstrips.

I've been looking rather dodgily round carparks for v40's but havn't seen any, to compare the weatherstrips with my own.

Which model v40 used the rubber (rather than plastic) weatherstrips? 1996-2000 or 2000 on?

Hope that someone can help me.

Pretty sure I remember reading that the rubbers you want are from the mk1 1996-2000 car-but thats only 3rd hand information so not 100% reliable
