Aerial Access
Had a read of the Haynes manual and a search of the forum but I can't work out how to get to the aerial to repair/replace it (it's started only half-retracting). Can anyone help?
While I'm on the subject once I get there I assume I will find the 'Blue Wire' to control a relay, but will I find enough power to tap off to a cigarette lighter socket in the back for ipod charging etc?

Re: Aerial Access
try lubricating it and/or gently (not too hard or you'll buckle it) easing it down whilst its retracting
If it's a definite 'old one out/new one in' situation there is a guide somewhere in the 'how to ..' section of the forum I'm sure. I know ... I've used it!. Means stripping most of the boot plastics out from memory
Dunno about getting a feed for a supplementary cigarette lighter/socket though. Could check with a multimeter for a feed whilst in there and compare with a reading taken from the front socket?
Anyone else any ideas?

Many thanks Jim and Stug - Unfortunately I can't open the PDF in the link, any chance someone could have a go and let me know if it's just me or not? (I've tried it on both Windows and Mac, both just don't open the file or give error messages...)

Yes it does work. You'll have to remove the _ from the filename (_Removing Boot Plastic Trim.pdf_ -> _Removing Boot Plastic Trim.pdf)

Re: Aerial Access
If the aerial isn't retracting fully anymore then probably it's the aerial itself which is worn and not the motor. This part can be replaced without removing the motor. You just pull the aerial out while it's fully extended. Buy a new aerial at the dealer (around 20 quid) and push it back in. That's all. The toothed plastic gear which makes the aerial go in&out gets worn and can't engage anymore with the gearwheel from the electric motor. This causes the aerial to get stuck while retracting.

Re: Aerial Access
My ariel's stuck completely out this week, tried to retract but noting moves, i've given it a push but that doesn't work anymore.
Going to have a look at that link now! thanks!

My 480 doesn't break... it just rests

i-pod power, you can tap off the fan switch wire loom.
This way it is only live whilst the ignition is on and thus prevents you from draining you battery.
I wired in an Alpine head unit with i-pod / usb ports.
I ran the usb cable down to the centre console and have it recessed in the blank next to the heated seats buttons.
I now just plug usb sticks with my music on then play away.
