Wonky nose cone

Everything that doesn't belong in the previous categories probably belongs here. Interiour (how are the seats mounted? how to remove the CEM?) and exteriour (how to replace the popup-lights shock absorbers or a door) are discussed here!

Wonky nose cone

Post by Rachel » Wed Sep 24, 2008 5:29 pm

It's been bugging me for ages....my nose cone was taken off to get to the headlight and it wasn't put back straight. It's not obvious, but it's definitely not straight. I was wondering what it involves to get it straight. I haven't looked yet at all, I just thought I ask first, but it would be a case of removing it and lining it up or could I just loosen it a bit and line it up?? I dunno....what does anyone think?
Thanks very much.

Nah...it's not the bonnet or bumper. You can see it's wonky by the gap under the pop up. One side is wider. Also the gaps at the side are uneven (if you get me) I could take a picture tomorrow to show it.
Also my car has not been in any accident.... it was straight before removal of cone, then wonky after refitting.

have a look at my diary thread, i had a similar problem on the charger. Everything as adjustable at the front end so aligning it shouldnt be a problem. If only the nosecone has been off, then thats all you weill need to alter.

Had the same problem with mine, the pop up seemed to be lower on one side but when I took it all apart the nose cone was actually propped up on one side with lots of washers to make it fit under the bonnet. Had to move the bonnet hinges and left wing to get it all to fit nicely/symetrically but now the wiper arms are wearing holes in the back of the bonnet and the passenger door catches the front wing everytime its opened. So back to lab again for me.

Defo persivere with the nose cone as things can get out of hand quickly if you start trying to make it all fit too well!

Cheers guys. I had a proper look today and really it's only just out. I did wonder whether it was one of the pop ups, but the gap along the top of the nose cone gradually increases from one side to the other. The bonnet is all straight, so I'm pretty sure a minor tweek will be all she needs.
