what is the part number for the little wedge shaped knobs...

Everything that doesn't belong in the previous categories probably belongs here. Interiour (how are the seats mounted? how to remove the CEM?) and exteriour (how to replace the popup-lights shock absorbers or a door) are discussed here!

what is the part number for the little wedge shaped knobs...

Post by glasgowjim » Tue Sep 25, 2007 10:00 pm

can anyone helpme?

what is the part number for the little wedge shaped knobs on the sliders for the heater controls.
the volvo dealers in glasgow have a parts department which is singularly useless every time I go in its the same they told me that my speedo sensor cable had come in for the 480 turned out to be for a 740 ?????
young man behind counter came up with the part number for a throttle control cable (should have been a speedo sensor) before telling me their computer system was down
asked about the little knobs he thought they had been discontinued but wasnt to sure.
God these guys make me look clever
every bloody time I go in there its the same story they are totally clueless.

They're not discontinued - at least they weren't last week when I got a couple through Volvo at York (who are pretty good to deal with). I went in with part number from list as Dan says. No problem at all.....

today I saw a flying pig !

The volvo parts dept manager phoned me up at work and apologised for the "mix up" they had ordered in the correct part but the apprentice I got was confused without the computer to fall back on and he messed up by telling me there was no order then got me the wrong one then reordered the wrong part as well as telling me the cheese shaped knobs were discontinued!

So got the speedo sensor cable and will pick up the knobs tomorrow night!

I am now a happy bunny once again :hopping:

many thanks folks.

from the reetard

Sorry to resurrect this thread. I have ordered some from my local dealer, but am not sure how they fit on.

Any help?

Pull the old one off (they can be quite tight) and push the new ones on. :D Simple as that!

Cool, thanks. I tried having a pull (!) last night, to no avail. I shall employ the use of some pliers tonight.

Cheers,

Antony

Sorted. 70p each and a 20 second job to replace them. Much better.

Cheers,
