Door drop

Everything that doesn't belong in the previous categories probably belongs here. Interiour (how are the seats mounted? how to remove the CEM?) and exteriour (how to replace the popup-lights shock absorbers or a door) are discussed here!

Door drop

Post by Roo » Sat Jul 28, 2007 11:58 am

The Chargers drivers door catches on the back edge of the sill/door. With the door open, there is a small amount of play in the hinges. Can you get the pins separately or does the whole hinge need to be replaced?

Got the same problem on my new ES.
Checked with the local Volvo dealer - pins are not available separately, hinges are approx £20 each; I think you just get the half hinge which fits to the door, the body half is welded on.

Door dropping

The doors are adjustable to a fair degree. With an assistant taking the weight of the door, loosen the bolts going into the door side of the hinge. Don't loosen the grub screws holding the hinge halves together, as this will move rather than the door! A ring spanner (13mm I think) is all you need. You can wiggle the door up & down in height, and in/out to get the roof and front guard shut lines correct. Then just align the striker plate to suit. Sometimes it's handy taking the striker off until you have the shut lines right. PS The Haynes manual only mentions the striker when it comes to adjusting the door - doesn't mention the hinges at all!
