wing mirrors

Everything that doesn't belong in the previous categories probably belongs here. Interiour (how are the seats mounted? how to remove the CEM?) and exteriour (how to replace the popup-lights shock absorbers or a door) are discussed here!

wing mirrors

Post by edie_fox » Mon Jul 31, 2006 6:11 am

ello. i had my driver side wing mirror casing 'stolen'??? i've been trying to find a replacement but i bought what i thought would fit and it didnt. now i see theres another one on ebay off the exact same year/model/colour (91/480es sr/p.blue) of my 480 but that also looks too wide where they come into contact with the car, mine seems to be on a sort of mini bit of arm (i know, im so technical ;) )
am i ever going to get the right one and why is this??

thank you velly so much

(p.s. for those who 'knew'. i've finally found someone to insure the boy and hes now loving the 480, even wants to 'upgrade' to a 2l turbo at a later date!, bless him, i knew he'd come round! so not gotta sell :D )

Sounds like you have the later type wing mirror and that you are looking at buying the early type, by mistake.
I think the wing mirror covers are only a tenner or so from volvo, plus £11 for the paint to spray it and you'll prob find its cheaper than buying a whole mirror :)

I'd be interested to hear if Volvo sell you a cover by itself - they said to me the mirror was only available as a complete unit - £160 or something stupid like that! Maybe they sell the cover for the old style mirrors separately but not for the new style?

If you can get them for a tenner I'll be off to a different dealer to replace my one that's now glued on with hot melt! :-D

I got one for my ES (admittedly about three or four years ago) and I seem to recall just about falling over when the parts man told me how little it was - prob about £10 - £15 but can't remember.

Thinking about a turbo - it's all your fault, mind you, saw a black XR4i the other day...........
