Seat lever
Hey guys I have just got my hands on my first ever 480. A complete beginner with these cars but a few issues I’m hoping you can help me with. My passenger seat has no lever to move the back so somebody can get in the back. Just a hole where the lever should be. Is this part available or can it even be fixed with just putting another one on?
Many thanks.
Ps got a few other issues but I’ll post them in the electrical forum so I don’t get shouted at

Re: Seat lever
The lever is attached to come metal cables to release the backrest lock.
It is very likely that if the lever is snapped that the cable also is. It isn't too difficult to replace but you will need a spare from a scrap car.
The backrest can be really easily removed from the car without having to unbolt the seat from the floor.
If you wind the seat backrest all the way back, you will see that it is hinged by two clevis pins, held in with two terry pins. If you follow the wires, you should be able to disconnect the backrest elecrics, cut the elestic (if it is still there) and pop the pins out and have a backrest that you can work on easily out of the car.
The upholstery at the base of the backrest is held together with hog rings You can bend or cut these to gain access to the inside of the backrest.
Once you've replaced the cable inside the backrest, the upholstery hog rings can either be re-used, or replaced like-for-like, or you can just replace them with very thin Ty-wraps. The elastic you cut can be tied back together, out of sight under the seat... a bit tighter too after all these years since manufacture.

Re: Seat lever
You are in luck! On the Volvo 480 UK Facebook group Daniël Lindenburg has new-old-stock NOS seat leverx with cables attached for sale. Be quick if you want them. They never come up for sale except from scrap cars!

Cheers. Unfortunately I can not see the post or the person on there. Otherwise I’d drop him a message.

I am not a Facebook member so you probably know more about that I do if you can post messages!
On the public group titled: "Volvo 480 UK", you see that he posts quite often selling parts. His name is Daniel Lindenburg.
These link might or might not work!

Re: Seat lever
Does anybody have an e-mail address for Daniel?
James gave a Facebook connection but I don't do Facebook.
I need levers for both seats. The pax side one was missing when I bought the car and I snapped the driver's side last week.
Thanks.
