Footwell Lights
I'm sure there was a page on the main site that listed the partnumbers for the genuine 480 footwell lights. 've searched the main site and done a couple on the forum but it seems to have gone. or am I just going mad?

I can get most of the parts required but for the complete factory look you need the lamp holder (on the main site in the faq section) As far as i know, the 480 footwell lights are the only application Volvo used them in and they appear to be very rare. I'd appreciate it if you took a look in the scrappys next time though.stu chacks wrote:
There's a couple of scrappie 480's up here if you can't get them Roo, drop me a line, looks like they're just the glovebox/boot light holders from the article?
Never noticed the blanking plates for the footwell lights, luckily not had cause to be down there much!

Yeah ... that'd be good, but like you say, it could be a lot of effort!Roo wrote:if i could get hold of one and if there was enough interest, i could possibly get a batch made up. Would need to have one as an example though and thats proving difficult...
I had a go this afternoon at 'making one' out of the black cover (blank) ... and it's definitly feasible, but was worried about the heat escaping out the back ... so i called Volvo for the back cover (Volvo part number 3200805) which are also gone, and was only 58p! girr!!
Can anyone else think of another part which is similar and could be used to stop the heat from the bulb causing damage!?
aye ... that'd be right ... all the cheap parts are gone!Roo wrote:Volvo used to charge £2.35 for them.

The rear caps (for heat protection) can be obtained from a glove compartment of a scrap car (you will need two scrap cars for that). The lights used there are exactly the same, only the panel to fit them in is different.
Good luck finding them.
By the way, haven't yet been able to check the scrap cars nearby.
Regards,

Robbie, I'll post the pictures for you, it's no problem at all!
At first you must draw the good lines, that the light is exactly in the middle.
After that you can cut the lines out with a precisiontool.
After that you can fit the light in, wouldn't it fit? Don't worry, file the hole a bit bigger.
And after the "hard" work, it's complete!
What Wiljen said, you can use the heatershields from the light in the glovecompartment. It will be save for your wireing and you've got no, out of your dash comming lights!
-------
I had to make this too, and these are mine:
Very simple to build, and it creates a nice and warm feeling in the interior!

the rear hatch lamp or glove box lamp (they are the same size) is an exact fit width wise for the space blanked under the glovebox as well as off under and to the left of the steering wheel - Used that for my magic button starter. - also fits the blanking plate in the rear seat side pockets. You dont need the backing since they are never on long enough for heat to be an issue I have at least 4 of these lamps as KFR was well chavved up with the damn things. Almost any old plastic cover will do since they cant be seen after fitting anyway.
