Hi all,
as some of you may know I became a 480 Turbo Auto owner on Saturday morning.
well, I noticed quite a clunking when I drove over bumps and pot holes etc.
I thought it was the jack knocking around, so I took that out last night and alas, there is still a clunking sound.
anyway, I was driving over some speed bumps on the way to the gyn last night and it became quite clear that somethin was wrong.
front end of the car went over the speed bump, nice comfortbale spring from the suspension.
rear end came over and it had absolutely NO shock absorption. just fell and went clunk.
i'm not expert, so i'm not sure if this points to the shocks or the springs...
needless to say i'm a bit peed off cos the car only cost £205, and will probably cost loads to fix.
when I get out of the car and push the car up and down at the back, it seems to have some bounce to it...
anyone come across something similar?
any ideas of costs?
The back end of my car seems to be dead...

thanks mate.
i'll check that out as soon as I get the chance.
how much would you want for the springs?
also, do you know where I can get hold of the shocks (just in case they are the problem) and how much they typically cost.
thanks,
Matt

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VOLVO-440-460-REA ... dZViewItem
or
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/REAR-SHOCK-ABSORB ... dZViewItem , I had a pair of these rears from this guy,Mark Holland.
They do fit the 480 even though the listings just say 440/460 and this is a huge saving on new mate.
That and springs is all it can be really!Bushes will be worn but are not vital and cost about a tenner each from Volvo just so you know.
Good Luck!
Steve.
