4 cm lowering

Post by V480TI » Mon Nov 28, 2005 12:23 am

Indeed I found out this ::::

Lowered my turbo 4 cm's with Dutch Intrax springs and new Koni Yellows.
When driving with 3 friends (4 persons in total) I heard a sort of whining noise.
Thank god I noticed it after a few 100 metres.

One rear tyre was rubbing to a rear wheel arch, other was very very close to rubbing.

So all of you who told me this before, you were right that I could get some rubbing when lowering.

What are the options to keep the lowering and prevent rubbing ???
Cause in the summer holiday I want to take my car to croatia,
as good as fully loaded.

Is there an option or do I have to take plane or so ???

Thanks and greetz

No secondhand lowering (4cm ) springs, but reconditioned and painted in the factory they originally came from.

In most motor factors they sell these rubber inserts that fit in between the coils on the rear springs (for when you tow caravans to stop the suspension from bottoming out).

Might save your tyres on a long trip? However........

........they are okay to use occasionally to stop damper damage. But it is not a good idea to use them all the time cause they put extra stress on the suspension turrets (possible causing metal fatuige)

Hey Milosz, youre totally right ;)

But I must say it wasn't a bad ride feeling either.
Driven in some lowered cars myself or as a passenger and that was much worse.(pug 205 GTI,several GTI's,Civic CRX,Beemers)
I think the combination of yellow Koni's and these Dutch Intrax springs
is a perfect combination.

Well, as I statet in this first post, I do not think this car will go to Croatia :cryhard:

And my new one also not, too much kilometers on it and no history.
Just too much a risk.
Will be a plane I guess and e rental car.
Humh, what will it be ??
Let's see if they rent sporty Volvo turbo's. :D
